Very Rare ADAMS STOPWATCH METER c1900 Plus Instructions, Papers & Case. What an unusual early exposure meter. It was made by Adams, the well known English camera maker. They made actinometer exposure meters from 1895 styled like a pocket watch. The design is similar to the Wynnes Infallible actinometer. However it is larger diameter & the meter part is very thin. They advertised the Thin Wafer Pattern meter at 8/6d. Three times the price of a Bee meter! This is the ultra rare version with a fully functioning stop-watch built into the back!! A Bee meter was 2/6d (12.5p today). The meter part is hinged to the front of the watch. It is very thin & a flange on the rear mates to the watch.. Glass & scales are in good condition. It has an orange filter to cover the sensitive paper window. The watch works well with fly-back stopwatch. It is marked Patent 35812, Swiss Made with a Swiss cross. The regulator has some nice scrollwork decoration. There is a little damage to the enamelled dial at the 6 oclock position, but this hardly notices. The body is finished in blackened brass. It comes with a soft chamois pouch case. 16 page instruction book. This gives prices of 39/6d for the stopwatch meter. Wafer meter was 8/6d. The packet od sensitive papers were unique to the watch meters. The papers are square, & you cut or fold the corners to fit into the meter. The paper packet is marked for the stopwatch meter, & the foil inner packet has some papers. If you wish to pay by any other method, please ask. Take a look at my other collectible cameras too!
